The Frenchay Connection: Neighbours
Here are some links to our neighbours at:
- Frenchay Hospital, where Robert Harris and the team at Frenchay Illustration are setting up a Web site to serve the Hospital and others in the area.
- the "Frenchay" Campus of The University of the West of England, Bristol, which came into being as such in 1992, but whose origins go back as far as 1595. At the Bower Ashton campus, UWE are teaming up with Aardman Animation
for two six-month model animation courses: one began in September 1996, and the second started in January 1997.
- the Bristol Labs of Hewlett Packard (their biggest labs outside the USA). And they're about to get even bigger! On 13 September 1996, Bill Hewlettt cut the first turf on the site of the new £19.4 million research laboratory, which HP claim will make the Frenchay site the world's best industrial research centre. I'd like to get permission from the estate of the late David Packard to quote an amusing but instructive paragraph from his book The HP Way: the bit about how applying the techniques of cattle ranching helped him in his management career (It's on page 69).
- the ultra-village/mega-hamlet of Bradley Stoke, a mile or so to the northwest of Frenchay, where Paul Sidnell has put together some stylish and informative pages.
- the old/new town of Yate , which has a new web site developed by Martin Stacey
